Easily print your UHF/NFC RFID labels on the fly

Redoing missing tags and flagging up cables on the fly has never been easier. Brady introduces new UHF and NFC RFID labels which can be printed as and when needed.

The New UHF Label

Brady’s new label is not just a barcode label but also contains a UHF RFID chip and antenna. Portable printers such as the tried and tested Brady M610 recognize this label as one of the standard labels and perform printing as usual.

Two gaps are closed with this product: Firstly, this is an easy emergency solution which allows warehouse staff to replace an RFID label that has fallen off. They quickly redo one label rather than an entire batch of labels. Secondly, this label also represents a comfortable entry into the world of RFID for users who have not used it so far.

“It‘s a plug and play kind of application”, explains Louis-Emile Lammertyn, EMEA Senior Product Manager at Brady. “This way, customers can start testing the possibilities of RFID without having to buy all the expensive hardware for a complete installation.”

A Two-Step Process

The UHF RFID label works in conjunction with a portable printer and a handheld reader. In the first step, the label is prepared for printing using apps such as Nordic ID’s Encoding Toolbox which are installed on the reader. The human readable text which can include a barcode or QR code is then printed.

In the second step, the software on the reader is used to encode the label. The barcode, for example, can be married with the EPC value, or other information is put on the label. Asset management represents an ideal typical use case for this. “Imagine a big office building, for example”, says Louis-Emile Lammertyn, “in which a new open-plan office needs to be set up. With this system and the new label, staff label everything as they go, encode the labels and generate digital lists which detail exactly which item goes into which cubical. It’s very simple.”

One spill removal solution for all floors

The cinema group needed a clean and efficient solution to remove various small spills in cinemas, both behind the scenes and in publicly accessible areas. Between shows, every spill from soda, sauce or other food & beverage products needs to disappear to welcome the next group of customers coming in for a great movie experience.

The clay-based granulate the cinema group was using created too much dust and proved too messy, even for behind the scenes areas, if not applied and removed immediately. In most of the publicly accessible areas, it was not even an option, as the risk of staining carpet floors with the clay granulate was just too high.

Solution: Fast and clean spill removal

Brady Corporation proposed its eco-friendly SpillFix granular that can safely be used to remove spills from the most porous or uneven surfaces, including carpet.

SpillFix is a 100% natural product made out of coconut coir. Thanks to its lightweight honeycomb structure, SpillFix immediately starts absorbing any liquid.

On top of this, 2.8 kg of SpillFix can absorb the same spill volume as 22.5 kg of clay based granular, so a lot less product is needed to achieve better results.

Unlike many clay-based granulars, SpillFix does not leave any slick residue behind and can be mopped up with a few swift swipes.

Results: Efficient spill removal between shows

The cinema group can now remove spills from sodas, sauces or other food & beverage products in a much more efficient way. SpillFix can simply be poured on any spill and vacuumed when dry shortly after, no matter whether the spill occurred on a linoleum or carpet floor.

A Lockout/Tagout padlock is often the last obstacle to prevent a premature machine energisation, and a potential maintenance accident with impact on professionals and on their personal lives. To strongly highlight that Lockout/Tagout padlocks protect people, Brady Corporation now offers PrintFace: a complete padlock personalisation, up to printing coworkers’ pictures directly on their padlocks.

Personal padlocks

By printing a face on padlocks, each Lockout/Tagout padlock can clearly show who it is protecting. PrintFace will help deter padlock tampering and will highlight that safety is very personal. Removing padlocks in Lockout/Tagout should only be done by the padlock owner, who is shown on the lock. Team leaders, or a site safety manager, can step in if necessary, by following an agreed on procedure that maintains safety. Next to adding a picture, other personalisation options are available including adding a company logo, serial number, text and more.

Highly reliable prints

Personalisation can be printed in full colour and in high resolution directly on Brady’s nylon SafeKey-padlocks for Lockout/Tagout. The print is abrasion -, chemical -, and UV-resistant and highly reliable in both in- and outdoor lockouts.
